From September/October (dates yet to be firmly fixed) I'll be running a regular writer's workshop/critique group specifically for children's writers. This will be a small group, in Moseley at the Moseley Exchange (ex CDT building, next to the PO on Alcester Road). The Missing Suitcase is my blog about writing children's books, reading children's books, and anything that flies in between the two and gets trapped, buzzing around in my head until I set it free by blogging about it.
So why The Writing Den? Remember when we were children, and a sheet hung over a couple of chairs, or an over-grown bush in the garden, or simply the space between the sofa and the wall, could be the perfect hideaway? It was our own place, where we could daydream, play, or read. We called it a den. I think children's writers need dens, too - safe places filled with advice, encouragement and discussion, book reviews, inspiration and imagination. That's what I hope The Writing Den will be.
